Henry Ruggs III, a former Las Vegas Raiders player, was denied parole in a DUI case. The incident, over four years ago, saw him drive drunk at 156 mph, crashing into Tina Tintor’s car, killing her and her dog. The speed limit was 45 mph. Ruggs later pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death and vehicular manslaughter.

In official terms, Ruggs was sentenced in 2023 to 3 – 10 years in prison, with his first parole chance set for August 2026. At a recent hearing, he expressed remorse, saying he constantly thought of the pain he caused Tintor’s family and friends. His attorneys also acknowledged the family’s grief.

However, the real impact is far – reaching. A life was lost, a family was shattered. The parole board’s decision not to grant parole shows society’s stance on such serious crimes. Ruggs can reapply in August 2027.

This incident isn’t an isolated one. Earlier this year, a British man caused a crash while gambling on his phone, injuring a pregnant woman. He got a 28 – month prison sentence. Road safety laws and their enforcement are crucial for public well – being.
